Cowes Coastcare Group was established in Feb 2022.

Our Initial project is to eradicate Sea spurge on Cowes foreshore. Our 1st year has been very successful with the help of great community volunteers. Achieving this goal of eradication will take ongoing follow up over a number of years .

Our plan is to also branch out into other weed species with involvement and education of community and replanting as needed.

Our Projects

Sea Spurge

Sea Spurge is a weed that inhabits sand dunes across Phillip Island. Cowes Coastcare Group has recently focused on removing this weed. Below are photos from a working bee where we removed sea spurge from Cowes' sand dunes (Left: before; Right: after).

Our working bees are held every second Sunday of the month from 10am -12pm
